Frequently Asked Questions

Below are a few of the most frequently asked questions in our office.

  • What are your hours?

-Our normal business hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9a-5p and Tuesday, Thursday 9a-6p.

  • What should I do if my pet has an emergency after hours?

-We refer all of our clients to Great Lakes Pet Emergency. They are located at 1221 Tittabawassee Rd. Saginaw MI 48640. Their phone number is 989-752-1960. They open right when we close, and are open throughout the night, and are also open all weekend.

  • Do I need to have an appointment?

-We strongly recommend calling ahead for an appointment. If you need to be seen that day, we are always flexible in working into our schedule if you call ahead and let us know you would like your pet to be seen that day. If you choose to come in on a walk-in basis, please be aware that our already scheduled appointments take precedence over walk-ins, and there may be up to a 45 minute wait to see a doctor.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

-We accept cash, check, care credit, and all major credit cards. (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover)

  • Can I make payments?

-Unfortunately, we do not offer any in-house payment options and payment is expected in full at the time of service.

  • Do you board pets?

-We are very happy to be able to offer the service of boarding for new or existing clients. All of our accommodations are indoor. We do have outdoor runs for dogs that we use weather permitting, only while a staff member is at the clinic. All boarders get walks 2-3 times per day.

  • What are the drop off times for boarding?

-Unfortunately, at this time we do not offer weekend drop off or pickup, so all drop offs and pick-ups must take place during our normal weekday business hours.

  • What should I bring with my pet for their stay?

-You are more than welcome to bring their beds (Keeping in mind that they are in a kennel, so if the bed is extra-large it may not fit comfortably) and any toys they might want. You are encouraged to bring their own food, but if you choose not to, food is included in the boarding price.

  • How much does it cost to get my cat spayed or neutered?

-Both our, spay and neuter packages include a rabies and temporary distemper (that needs to be boostered 3-4 weeks later), pain medication and a pre-surgical exam. Please call the office to get accurate pricing for your particular cat’s needs.

  • I need a refill on my pet’s prescription, but haven’t seen the doctor in over a year. Can I still get the refill?

-Unfortunately, it is required by law that all pets must have seen the doctor within a year to get a refill on any prescriptions, including prescription strength preventatives. If your pet is overdue for an exam, please call the office to schedule a wellness exam.

  • I need to get a license for my dog, and need a rabies vaccine. Can I get the rabies vaccine without seeing the doctor?

-Because rabies is a state regulated disease, it is required by law that all animals must pass a wellness exam from a licensed veterinarian before being administered the rabies vaccine.

  • I have vaccinated my pet using over-the-counter vaccines, is that an acceptable form of prevention for hospital or boarding stays?

-We do require that all vaccines be administered by a licensed veterinarian in order to be considered up-to-date, and be able to stay at our hospital.
